Trademark for Uzum Market and Wildberries Sellers in Uzbekistan (2026): Why You Need It and How to Register
What Uzum Market, Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex Market actually require from a seller with their own brand, how to get copies removed and how to register a mark with the Ministry of Justice: classes, fees and terms.
As of October 2026, a trademark is not required to start selling on Uzum Market or Ozon, but without a trademark registration certificate you cannot add a new brand on Uzum, get its "Original" badge or have copies removed as the right holder, and priority goes to whoever files for the name first. State fees in Uzbekistan are UZS 5,104,000 for a company and UZS 2,992,000 for an individual per Nice class at a base calculation value (BRV) of UZS 440,000; by law, examination takes about seven months, and the outcome cannot be promised.
In short
- Marketplaces. Uzum Market requires a certificate for a new brand (para. 5.4 of the seller manual), for its authorisation list and for the "Original" badge; Ozon (ozon.uz) asks for documents only for brands registered in Uzbekistan; Wildberries creates a brand from a name and a logo, but its "Original" badge is tied to the registers of Russia's FIPS, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and WIPO.
- Priority. It is set by the filing date (Art. 12 of Law No. 267-II), while the exclusive right applies from registration in the register (Art. 26): file before someone else takes the name.
- What to register. The word name in goods classes of the Nice Classification (1–34) and the logo in a separate application; class 35 protects a shop name as a retail service, not the goods themselves.
- Who and how. The Ministry of Justice accepts the application via im.adliya.uz or my.gov.uz, and its Intellectual Property Center runs the examination: formal examination takes 30 days, examination of the mark 6–7 months from filing.
- How much. Per class: 11.6 BRV = UZS 5,104,000 (company) and 6.8 BRV = UZS 2,992,000 (individual); each further class costs 1 and 0.5 BRV. A refusal can be appealed to the Appeals Council of the Ministry of Justice within three months.

We opened the platforms' public rules on 26 October 2026 (links are in the sources); they change, so check your platform's current offer and manual before submitting documents. None of them requires a certificate to start selling, but each ties extra features and protection to it, and Uzum will not add a new brand without one (para. 5.4).
| Platform | What the public rules say |
|---|---|
| Uzum Market: seller manual of 14.09.2026, offer of 14.08.2026 | A new brand is added on the basis of a certificate sent to business support (para. 5.4). Documents are not required in advance, but if a right holder files a ban, goods without documents are blocked: three days to respond, damages and a penalty are possible (para. 2.6). A certificate is also needed for the authorisation list (para. 2.7) and the "Original" badge (para. 2.8) |
| Ozon: knowledge base for ozon.uz | Documents are required for a brand registered in Uzbekistan (nationally or via Madrid): a certificate or register extract, a contract or letter from the right holder. An unregistered brand is sold without documents; only classes 1–34 are considered |
| Wildberries: help centre for sellers from Uzbekistan | A brand is created from a name, category and logo; a certificate is not mentioned. The "Original" badge requires a mark registered with FIPS, a national register of an EAEU member state or WIPO (with protection in Russia or the EAEU); a pending application and classes 35–45 are not accepted |
| Yandex Market: Market Yandex Go help | Checks that branded goods with a registered mark are original and may request documents; the right holder is confirmed by a registration certificate |
- Name of the authority. Uzum and Ozon refer to the Intellectual Property Agency, but in 2022 the Agency was merged into the Ministry of Justice (Resolution PP-221, para. 1): today the authorised body is the Ministry of Justice, and examination is carried out by the Intellectual Property Center under it (Art. 7 of Law No. 267-II).
- Russia and other people's brands. Wildberries' badge rules do not name the Uzbek register (see the Madrid section). Someone reselling another owner's brand needs a chain of documents from the right holder; below we deal with your own brands.
Why a seller needs their own trademark
- Copies and "brand hijacking". Protection arises on registration and priority is set by the filing date (Arts. 4 and 12), while earlier sales under the name create no priority: the examiner compares the application with registered and earlier-filed marks. Someone else's bad-faith registration can be challenged (Art. 10(9), Art. 24), but the outcome of such a dispute is not guaranteed. If a competitor or former partner files first, your product can be treated as infringing: on a right holder's ban, Uzum blocks listings for which no documents are shown within three days (the seller answers for claims, para. 2.3), and the right holder may claim damages or compensation of 20–1,000 BRV (UZS 8.8–440 million, Art. 26). Since February 2026, acquiring the exclusive right to a competitor's means of individualisation in order to restrict sales of goods already placed on the market is unfair competition (Art. 21 of the Competition Law). What to do if the brand is already taken: see “Challenging a trademark registration in Uzbekistan”.
- Selling the business. The exclusive right is assigned by a contract registered with the Ministry of Justice (Art. 30): 20 BRV (UZS 8,800,000) for a company and 10 BRV (UZS 4,400,000) for an individual for the first mark. Without an application or a certificate there is nothing to assign: a name on listings does not give an exclusive right.
- The border. A mark can be entered in the Customs Register of Intellectual Property Objects (Chapter 56 of the Customs Code): the application is electronic, the decision comes within 10 days, and the term is up to three years (Arts. 385–386); 100 BRV (UZS 44 million) per object is deposited when you ask customs to detain a shipment (Art. 388). Since 28.05.2024 customs may suspend release even without the register, using data from the register of marks (Art. 382-2); this is border-only, and individuals' non-commercial parcels are excluded (Art. 383).
How a right holder gets copies removed
| Channel | What to file | Consequences |
|---|---|---|
| Uzum Market | The manual does not describe how a right holder files | Listings without documents are blocked; according to the Ministry of Justice (16.05.2025), about 220 counterfeit offers were found on Uzum, and some of them were removed at right holders' requests |
| Ozon | A support request: "Content → Violation of platform rules by another seller → Use of my brand", SKU and the right holder's documents | If the seller cannot confirm permission, the product is hidden |
| Wildberries | "Digital Arbitration": a mark registered with FIPS, WIPO "or other authorised bodies", proof of rights, a screenshot or test purchase, a letter about the violation, a power of attorney (article of 27.08.2026) | The seller has 10 days for replies, then WB lawyers up to 30 days; if the seller does not reply or loses, the listing is blocked and new listings under that brand in the category are restricted |
| Yandex Market | A right-holder form in the Market Yandex Go help | No deadlines stated |
| A trademark report form (filed by the right holder or a representative) | Does not rule on disputes requiring in-depth analysis | |
| Ministry of Justice | A right holder's application for a check (Art. 37-1); the Ministry's hotline is 1008 | A fine of 100–200 BRV (UZS 44–88 million) on a legal entity; paying 70% within a month waives the rest |
Photos: Uzum may consider a complaint about copied photos without an opinion from the IP authority if a watermark with your shop's name is visible (para. 2.12), so put such a watermark on all photos.
What to register: the mark and the classes
The law allows word, figurative, three-dimensional and other designations or combinations of them (Art. 3); one application covers one mark (Art. 9). The word mark comes first: the name buyers type into search. A logo without the word will not protect the name, so file it in a second application. A word and a logo can also be filed together as a combined mark: the image is submitted in the colour for which protection is requested (para. 24 of the Regulation). As a rule, descriptive designations, designations that do not distinguish the goods, misleading ones and ones similar to other people's marks are not registered (Art. 10), nor is an image of the product itself (para. 7 of the Administrative Regulation, Cabinet Resolution No. 480; the “Regulation”).
| What you sell | Nice classes | What the registration protects |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing, footwear, headwear | 25 | The name on clothing, footwear and headwear; bags — 18, jewellery — 14, hair clips — 26 |
| Cosmetics, perfumery, household chemicals | 3 | Non-medicated cosmetics, perfumery, laundry and cleaning products; dietary supplements and medicated soaps — 5, make-up brushes — 21 |
| Tableware, household goods | 21 | Household and kitchen utensils, containers; lamps and apparatus for heating and cooking — 11 |
| Home textiles, furniture | 24; 20 | Bed linen, towels, curtains (24); furniture, pillows, mattresses (20) |
| Phone cases; toys | 9; 28 | Smartphone cases; games and toys |
| Food and drinks | 29–32 | Dairy, preserves (29); tea, coffee, honey, spices (30); fresh fruit, animal feed (31); water, juices (32) |
| Name of a shop, chain or storefront | 35 | Retail services and advertising, not the goods themselves |
Protection is not limited to the literal list: the homogeneity of goods is assessed by type, purpose, material, complementarity, conditions of sale and range of buyers (para. 94 of the Regulation). Choosing classes: see the article “Nice classes for a trademark” (in Russian).
When you need class 35. For classification purposes, selling goods is not in itself a service, so your own goods are protected by goods classes. Class 35 covers retail services (assembling different goods for customers, including through a website) and advertising: you need it if the name is used on a shop selling goods of different producers.
How to register the mark: step by step
The Ministry of Justice accepts the application, and the Intellectual Property Center under it carries out the examination. Residents file on the im.adliya.uz portal (OneID login), on my.gov.uz or at a Public Services Center, and non-residents on im.adliya.uz with a login and password (para. 34 of the Regulation as of 13.07.2026); foreign companies and individuals permanently residing abroad must act through a patent attorney (Art. 34).
- Check the mark against the portal's register ("Database") and pending applications, in different spellings and in the relevant classes; international registrations are searched in WIPO's Madrid Monitor and Global Brand Database. Method: “Trademark uniqueness check” (in Russian).
- Prepare the application: the application form, an image of the mark (in colour if colour is claimed), a list of goods by class in the wording of the current classification (paras. 13, 29), and a power of attorney if filing through a representative (it can be provided within two months, para. 33).
- File and pay: the applicant confirms the application and pays the filing fee electronically (paras. 38–39): 6 BRV for the first class for a company and 4 BRV for an individual.
- Receive the number and date. Within one working day the Ministry publishes information about the application, and the date of receipt is the priority date (Arts. 8, 12; para. 40). Until the examination decision, third parties may submit observations on the bad faith of the application (para. 41).
- Go through examination: formal examination takes 30 days, examination of the mark is carried out within seven months but not earlier than six months from filing (Arts. 14–15). An examiner's request must be answered within three months (the period can be extended on request by up to six months), otherwise the application is deemed withdrawn (Art. 13).
- Make the second payment. Registration happens automatically on payment, and the electronic certificate with a QR code is issued the same day (Arts. 18, 20).
- Use and renew. A mark not used for three years in a row may be terminated by a court on a claim by an interested person (Art. 25); the renewal application is filed in the last year of validity (Art. 22).
How much it costs and how long it takes
Fees follow the annex to Law No. ZRU-600 (para. 12, version of 12.09.2026) at a BRV of UZS 440,000 (UP-115). The fee table distinguishes only individuals and legal entities; sole proprietors and the self-employed should use the individual rates as a guide and confirm the category when filing.
| Stage | Individual, BRV | Individual, UZS | Legal entity, BRV | Legal entity, UZS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Filing and examination, 1 class | 4 | 1,760,000 | 6 | 2,640,000 |
| Each class beyond the first | 0.5 | 220,000 | 1 | 440,000 |
| Registration, publication, certificate | 2.8 | 1,232,000 | 5.6 | 2,464,000 |
| Total for 1 class | 6.8 | 2,992,000 | 11.6 | 5,104,000 |
| 10-year renewal, 1 class | 4 | 1,760,000 | 6 | 2,640,000 |
The second payment is due within three months of the decision being sent, or within the following six months with a 50% surcharge; check the amount against the office's notice. The full calculation is in “How much a trademark costs in Uzbekistan”. If an information search is carried out by agreement of the parties, examination of the mark takes one month from the decision to accept the application (Art. 15). The certificate is valid for 10 years from the filing date (Art. 21).
While the application is pending
- Keep evidence: contracts, invoices, dated screenshots of listings and advertising.
- Do not use ®. It means a mark registered in Uzbekistan (Art. 29); unlawful use of the warning mark is punished by a fine of 15–30 BRV (UZS 6.6–13.2 million) with confiscation, and 30–50 BRV for a repeat offence within a year (Art. 177 of the Code of Administrative Liability).
- You cannot yet complain as a right holder. The exclusive right applies from registration (Art. 26); for the badge Wildberries ignores a pending application, while Uzum and Ozon name a certificate in their rules.
Abroad: the Madrid System
The Ministry of Justice certificate is valid in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan has been a party to the Madrid Protocol since 27 December 2006; Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are parties too. An international application is based on a national application or registration. WIPO's basic fee is CHF 653 (CHF 903 for a colour mark) plus the countries' fees. If you sell through Wildberries, Ozon or Yandex Market in Russia and Kazakhstan, it is worth discussing this route right away.
Common seller mistakes
- Registering only the shop name: class 35 without goods classes does not protect the goods, and Ozon and the Wildberries badge do not accept it.
- Choosing the wrong classes: a narrow list leaves adjacent goods unprotected, while excess classes cost money and are vulnerable to a non-use claim.
- Registering the mark in the name of an employee or partner: the seller and the right holder become different persons, platforms need the right holder's contract or letter, a licence is registered with the Ministry of Justice (Art. 30; 6 BRV for a company), and re-registering the mark costs 10–20 BRV.
- Choosing a name similar to a well-known brand: this is a ground for refusal (Art. 10) and a risk of complaints; justice authorities fined a company 100 BRV for offering counterfeit goods under the designation HOFFMANS, phonetically similar to the HOFMANN mark (Ministry of Justice, 08.01.2026).
How Pactum helps
We check the mark, select classes, prepare and file the application, answer examiner requests, track payment and renewal deadlines, prepare documents for the platforms and the right holder's complaints to platforms and the Ministry of Justice; in court the client is represented by an advocate of a partner bureau under a separate agreement.
Trademark registration at Pactum starts from UZS 6,000,000 and a search for similar marks from UZS 1,000,000; state fees and third-party charges are paid separately, and we fix the scope of work and the final amount in a commercial proposal before we start. We cannot promise the outcome of registration: the decision is made by the examination. FAQ
Do I need a trademark to sell on Uzum Market?
Not to list a product: Uzum does not require brand documents before you start selling (para. 2.6 of the manual). But a new brand is added on the basis of a certificate (para. 5.4), and if another owner gets a mark for the same name and files a ban, listings are blocked unless documents are shown within three days.
What documents are needed for a brand on Wildberries in Uzbekistan?
To create a brand, the article for sellers from Uzbekistan names a name, a category and a logo. For the "Original" badge, the mark must be registered with FIPS, a national register of an EAEU member state or WIPO with protection in Russia or the EAEU; the Uzbek register is not named.
How do I register a brand in Uzbekistan myself?
File with the Ministry of Justice via im.adliya.uz or my.gov.uz an application, an image of the mark and a list of goods by Nice class, and pay 4 BRV (individual) or 6 BRV (company) for the first class. Then comes examination of 6–7 months and the second payment; registration happens automatically on payment. A foreign company can file only through a patent attorney.
How can I check a brand registration online?
Open the "Database" section of the im.adliya.uz portal (on 26 October 2026 it asked to log in with OneID or a login and password), and search for international registrations covering Uzbekistan in WIPO's Madrid Monitor. An electronic certificate is confirmed by its QR code.
How do I check a brand name for uniqueness?
Look in the register and among pending applications for identical and similar designations in different spellings and classes: similarity is judged by sound, spelling and meaning, and the homogeneity of goods by type, purpose and range of buyers. Then check the grounds for refusal: descriptiveness, lack of distinctiveness, being misleading.
How much does a trademark for a marketplace cost?
State fees per class are UZS 2,992,000 for an individual and UZS 5,104,000 for a company, and each further class adds UZS 220,000 or 440,000. Pactum's work starts from UZS 6,000,000, with fees paid separately.
